Welcome to Approaches to Teaching Science
Here you can explore innovative and effective approaches to teaching science. This website is dedicated to showcasing how four diverse and impactful teaching methods can be integrated into teaching the Victorian Science Curriculum.
Each approach is explored through different formats, such as a video, narrative, poster, and written discussion. The goal of this website is to provide a comprehensive, accessible, and professional resource for educators and students interested in modern science teaching strategies.

I began my tertiary education with a Bachelor of International Development Studies, and I am currently in the final year of my Master of Teaching - Primary. The last time I actually studied science was in Year 10 and I thought my science days were over. However, science was all around me, from perfecting a recipe, to caring for plants and my career working with children, I have consistently engaged with science in creative and meaningful ways.
In various roles, including as a babysitter, before and after-school care educator, and party host, I’ve used science to enrich children’s learning experiences. Whether through play-based learning activities or performing ‘magic’ during parties, I have found innovative ways to spark curiosity in young minds.
My approach to teaching science is rooted in fostering curiosity and engagement. I believe in creating hands-on, interactive learning experiences that allow students to explore and discover science in a way that feels both fun and meaningful. By connecting science to everyday life, I aim to inspire a lifelong love of learning and encourage children to see the world through a scientific lens.

I am in my final year studying to achieve a Master of Teaching – Primary. I studied a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting and Finance and progressed to work in corporate tax. Nonetheless, that was not my path as the desire to contribute to society through a lens of growth and sharing led to my choice to embark on the journey of teaching.
The last time I studied science was in Year 10 during high school as I was adamantly certain that my future would not involve science at all; how naive I was as undoubtedly, science is embodied in our everyday lives that extend beyond classifications of Biology, Physics and Chemistry. I therefore aim to continually learn more about science along the way as knowledge of science allows one to make sense of what is happening; be it a simple reaction or outcomes from events through time. I endeavour to share knowledge of science while broadening the interests of future students to be able to allow them to make sense of life through their understanding of science with opportunities to create a lifelong interest in the subject.
